MAC Superglass

FINALLY, after the whoooole world got them in May, we lastly got them on tuesday.

I was totally surprised by the effect. I expected something way more subtle from the photos so far, but when I had it on, it was like "baang". lol

So I ended up buying three instead of one. But from the pictures I took later you will see that the result isn't so mind-blowing after all - I was tricked by MAC's special lighting, but I survive.

Let's see some pics, before I tell you what I think of them.

Aren’t they gorgeous looking??

From left to right: Cherry Electric, Totally Bang!, Fab Frenzy

Totally Bang!

Cherry Electric

They feel like the usual lipglosses by MAC, a certain amount of stickyness, but you don't feel the glitter particles at all. Only at the end, when most of the gloss is gone, the glitter stays behind, as you can see here:

I really like them, even if they aren’t so special as I thought at the MAC counter under this evil lighting. I think over a lipstick they will do great!

Did you buy any??

NOTD: Medaillon from China Glaze

Hello my dear ones,

I decided to upload a quick NOTD post. This is Medaillon from China Glaze. A gorgeous golden glitter. I absolutely adore it.

I got myself a set of gel nails two days ago, I was so sick of this messy looking nails and no improvement no matter how much I tried.

I will do a seperate post on them, where I got them and how I like it.

Wax in the City

Hey guys,

I'm sorry that it took me so long, again, but heat and work are weighing me down like crazy. But let's go. This is going to be a looong post. :-)

Recently, Christine from temptalia.com made a post about waxing and her waxing experience in a particular studio. I got quite curious, but for obvious reasons the described studio wasn't a location I could easily go to. *g*

So I decided to look around and chose one: "Wax in the City" in Vienna. Before I start my review a few quick lines to my relationship to hair. lol

I looooove hair on the head, but that's it! I have a very distinct hate for body hair. I adore long luxuirous hair on girls and crazy, spiky do's on boys, but I hate hair on legs, bikini zone and armpits.

I don't think that men need to shave their legs or arms, but anything else like chest, private area and armpits are a must-shaving-zone for my taste. This is only my opinion and if you like your boy hairy, why not, it's just nothing for me.

I am lucky to have very decent body hair growth, so there is no need to switch from shaving to waxing on my body, but I wanted to try to wax my eyebrows and the corners of my upper lip. I only have a few colourless hairs there, but I hate them still.

Wax in the City is a company from Germany with several locations in every bigger city in Germany and this one location in Vienna. It is a  "walk in" studio, so you can't make an appointment. You just go there, say what you would like to get and that's it. :-)

I was instantly attracted by their beautiful and friendly homepage and with their studio it's totally the same. The place is tasteful, light and has a gorgeous modern interior:

That's what I took with me:

They have a waxing pass and each waxing gets noted and when the pass is full, you get one wax for free. :-)

And some promo material:

And how was it?

Like the place itself - very high quality. They only use hot wax and all the tools are pre-packed and opened in front of you, which I think is great.

The girl, who did my waxing was very friendly and natural, which I think is important, especially when you're planning on getting a bikini wax.

The wax is hot, but bearable. It hurts like you would expect, but it is really no big deal.

And that's how I looked like after:

*gg* That's what I call a red face.. You see indeed where they waxed, my cheeks and nose are red, because it was so hot. Nothing was waxed there. *gg* The redness was gone in about an hour, thank god.

I think they did a great job, but for me waxing isn't detailed enough. The wax wasn't able to grab each hair, like I hoped it would, especially the baby hairs are likely to stay behind.

My conclusion: If you're looking for a great place to get yourself a waxing treatment and live in the area or around Vienna - go there!
It is a gorgeous studio with good prices and excellent service. I will stick with tweezing, it is more detailed in the face area, but if you want to get larger body parts baby smooth and hair free for some weeks or suffer from strong hair growth I definitely would try this.

Hope you enjoyed it! Other places you want me to check out for you?

MAC In the Groove Haul - Part 2

Here are some pics in the sunlight and swatches:

Soften The Mood

Band of Roses

By Candlelight

Swatching-time:

Band of Roses indoors with natural light

By Candlelight and the Mineralize Tri Soften The Mood

They are really pretty, though I thought Soften The Mood would have more colour pay off. But we will see how it works in the eye area. I bought Band of Roses with the idea in my head to mainly use it as eyeshadow combi :-)

Love you,
Guinevere

MAC In The Groove Haul - Part 1

I bought these when they were released a week ago, but didn't find time to post them, so here we go.

I originally bought:

Cremesheen Fashion Whim, Petticoat MSF, By Candlelight MSF, Soften the Mood MES, Band of Roses MB

But I only kept:

By Candlelight, Soften the Mood and Band of Roses

This might seem very odd to many people, especially the MSF freaks. I thought about it, but I prefer matte products for the face and since I recently reorganised my make up collection, I know it would be a waste of money. Same with the lipgloss, I have enough. But I couldn't resist these beauties:

Soften the Mood

By Candlelight

Band of Roses

Swatches will follow soon. :-)

And I recommend the MSF Comfort. I already have it and I love it, it is sooo great for contouring and it doesn't burst with shimmer, so it looks natural. If you only wanna buy one MSF, buy Comfort.

Mac Venomous Villains - new promo pics!!

I think it's best to let you all enjoy the pics, before I start writing. *gg*

And here some "close-ups"

pics belong to temptalia.com

I gotta say I am happier with  these pics. They didn't screw up all the products packaging. I like the lipgloss and lipstick packaging. The mineralize stuff seems nice as well, packagingwise.

I can't wait to actually see the products in real life. Look at this nail polish!! I need to save some money.

What do you think?

Gold Smokey Look aka Playing around with my Illamasqua Liquid Metal Palette

So my dears,

This was requested you could say *g* I played with my Illamasqua Liquid Metal palette. It was harder than I thought to get creative, cause the colours are so non-summery. I chose a gold-smokey look. I used the gold (Solstice) as my base and worked with a bunch of MAC pigments and one Medusa Make Up eyeshadow over it.

I also used Enrapture (the bronzy one) for contouring, to give the bronzer more effect. I didn't use much though, cause it looks too orange on my pale face.

What can I say, the colours go on like water, super smooth and easy, but as expected the metals crease quite fast. These are awesome for photoshoots or special effects, but if you are creating something that's supposed to stay put the whole day, I wouldn't recommend them.

Do you want a tutorial for this look?? I warn you in advance, I used a ton of different colours. lol

Mini Alverde Haul

I never really had stuff from Alverde, but since I liked their last LE I decided to check it out again and ended up with these two babies:

This gloss tube is from their new "Feel The Summer" collection and it is full of grape juice. It smells, tastes and feels gorgeous on your lips.

I also picked up one baked eye shadow from their permanent range:

Such a pretty colour!!!
And the swatches.

I applied the shadow with no base and it has this colour pay off, only imagine what you can do when you use it wet... Wonderful!

I really love those two products and can recommend them totally, especially when you think about the fact that their make up is pure nature, nothing chemical at all.

Have you stuff from Alverde?

Love,
Guinevere

Essence's The Twilight Saga Eclipse Collection

I had to buy it, everything I could get, I mean it's Twilight stuff.. I'm a true Twilight nerd, but still sane. No screaming freak, only a passionate fan, but enough with my love for these books.

What I got:
and I found these two as well at another store:

Let's start with the details:

The collection consists of 4 lipglosses, 3 eyeshadow duos, 2 glitter eyeliner, a diamond powder and 5 nail polishes.

The diamond powder looks nice, but is super messy and gritty.. I didn't even really open it, cause I was full of this powder after seconds anyway.

The glitter eye liners are very long and have a smudger at one end. The thing I noticed is the hardness of the glitter particles, I haven't used them on the eyes yet, but I can imagine that thís might cause some discomfort..

Shadows: Those look nice, but the quality is horrible, unfortunately.. There is no colour pay off until you crush your finger down this shadow and rub around like hell, which I, for my part, will not try with my holy brushes..

The nail polishes:
I am missing one, a light one with light glitter, I think I will survive. *g*

And now on to the swatches:

La Push or Forks and Edward or Jacob

Hide Bella Hide, Undead and the eyeshadow duo Werwolf or Vampire

The diamond powder and from left to right:
Don't bite me, kiss me; Undead; Ready to be bitten; Lunch at Cullen's

Undead, Don't bite me, kiss me, Thirsty, Hide Bella Hide

Undead reminded me of Lubu Heels, so I compared them. :-) China Glaze's Lubu Heels goes on way smoother and has more glitter in it.

My opinion?

I'm a little bit disappointed, which makes me quite sad.. The diamond powder is a single mess, the liners are a bit hard. I don't even wanna start with the eyeshadows. The nail polishes are okay, but qualitywise definitely more on the streaky side. The glosses aren't that pigmented, except Lunch at Cullen's which is sooooooooo beautiful.

So if you're not like me and need to have it all, because Twilight stands on it and it is Make Up, just pick up the red lipgloss. That is the only thing I would say is a must have.

Sad isn't it? I always hope the best..

Love,
Guinevere
