NYX Package

NYX is currently conquering the austrian market and for that reason sent some bloggers a couple of products and I was one of those lucky girls. :-)

Here's what I got:

I was a bit surprised, cause they wrote that the items in this package are their bestsellers. Especially, after reading on their facebook page that their famous palettes are their besteller. lol

I'm really curious how they will perfom, I already own many NYX products, but so far I never bought lip- or eyeliners.

Some swatches for now. :-) I'm gonna post a review as soon as I used the products thoroughly.

eyeliners:

Gold, White Pearl, Dark Brown, Teal

Hot Orange, Italian Dusk, Clear

lip liners:

Never, Latte, Pumpkin, Pale Pink

My first impressions:
On the eyeliner front: two out of four pencils have great pigmentation: dark brown and teal.
Lipliners: Pumpkin just drips with pigmentation and is super soft, the others not that much, but still seem good.

Swatches of the polishes will follow soon. :-)

Do you own lip- or eyeliners from NYX? Do you like them?

Guinevere

My Eyeshadow Collection

I wasn't sure whether or not I should post this.. I hope you know this is not about bragging and well, in the end I thought, I would want to see it. I'm collecting make up since 2005. I didn't start yesterday, keep that in mind.

The back-story: Don't laugh but the bigger my make up collection gets, the more I worry when I leave. My collection is huge, there's no way around it and by now worth quite a lot.. I started to think about getting my make up insured. Just the way my boyfriend thinks about insuring his whiskeys.

A couple of days ago I asked my adviser and she told me that, usually, everything that's in your flat is included in the household insurance.

The tricky part is:

How much did you own?
How much was it worth?

I'm sure in case of a fire it's difficult to convince an assessor how much those products did cost. I own a lot of limited edition products. She recommended to take pictures from every item I own and write down its name. Quite a project..

I started with my eyeshadows (MAC, Sleek, NYX, Urban Decay, pressed MAC pigments, Paris Berlin,..). Those are all of them except my Essence shadows.

I haven't got all my palettes yet, I ordered some empty Mehron palettes, but am still waiting for them to arrive.

Here we go:

Nude:

Yellow:

Orange:

Red:

Rose - Pink:

Purple (I reogranised some purples to pinks (Sleek), see above):

Blue:

I forgot two *gg*

Green:

Brown, Bronze:

Silver, Gold, Black:

Ben Nye palette:

Miscellaneous:

So if you want to be prepared for the worst case, document your make up. :-)

Hope you enjoyed that post.

Another trip to Hungary - Part 1 - NYX counter

It always sounds so "huge" when I say we drove to Hungary, but from Vienna you're there in just an hour. So it is an easy day trip.

My boyfriends mum comes from Hungary and has a little flat there and from time to time we drive her there and I always drag my BF to Müller and Tesco.

We have Müllers in Austria as well, but they don't have NYX!!!!

So it is always super exciting to go there and that is their set up. I made the pics with my I-phone, cause it would look weird if I stand there with my huge Canon..

I ended up buying only one blush:

Since I have red cheeks anyway I don't need strong blushes, so this one is perfect.

If you're close to Hungary or from Vienna you should drive there and on the way there is an outlet (Parndorf) which does have a Make Up Store with discontinued and old limited MAC stuff - whooo whooo!!!!

Massive NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil Disappointment

As some of you might have read, I've been in NYC some weeks ago - during the volcanic ash chaos. And there I bought a ton of make up, I don't even wanna say out loud how much I bought.. *gg*

And one of my top to-buy things was a bunch of NYX stuff.

I owned already some lipsticks, 2 lip pencils, 1 jumbo eye pencil in Milk, some of their palettes and 2 bags of them, which I've had ordered online on cherryculture.com some time ago.

I only use the Milk Jumbo eye pencil on my waterline, where it works great and I had heard so many ravings about these pencils as an eyeshadow base for example that I got myself quite a few.

I know, crappy artifical light picture, but it's enough for this purpose.

So shortly after returning I did a smokey eye. I even used UD Primer Potion underneath, just to make sure and then applied the black NYX jumbo pencil and directly after that the black eyeshadow to set it. It looked great. So I went off to work, I arrived and when I saw myself in a mirror I couldn't believe my eyes:

This is the worst that can happen. The NYX pencil had sucked up all the black colour and built this black ugly line. In an freaking hour!

And naturally at that day I needed something from my MAC store. Gosh that was embarassing.. I wanna make this clear - I'm not vain! Not at all, I leave the house without make up all the time, but when I wear make up I want it to be perfect, especially as a pro myself.

I rather wear no make up, than crappy, badly applied make up. So this was torture for me, cause I gotta be honest with you, when I see someone wearing make up like this I think: Girl you need help...

So if any of you dear readers know how to get these NYX pencils to be a good NON creasing eyeshadow base, please share your secret!

I know this probably wasn't the most exciting post in the history of posts, but I really wanted to do it, cause if you think about buying them as a base like me, you should think twice.

NYX Las Vegas

I just wanted to show you a polish I adore: NYX's Las Vegas.

It's said that it is a dupe for China Glaze Emerald Sparkle, which is high up on my nailpolish wishlist. I don't own it yet, but from what I've seen I think this statement sounds accurate. :-)

It's sooo pretty.

I got bored and tried some free hand nailart, didn't turn out soo well, but whatever. *gg*

Looking for some Heart?

Yesterday I tried something and I'm quite happy with the way it turned out.

I have some gorgeous NYX Girls polishes, who aren't that gorgeous at all when one tries to apply them nicely.

When I first tried to use them I got so disappointed that I stopped, put them away and thanked God that they haven't been expensive.

So yesterday when I was watching a movie I thought, give them a second chance and that's what it looked like in the end.

Beautiful, isn't it? I apologize for my horrible cuticles, I try my best to keep them pretty, but I fail regularly.

What I used in the right order:
  • Catrice Growth Support
  • China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat
  • 2 coats of China Glaze "Light as Air"
  • a ton of play around with NYX Girls CN250 to get several hearts on each nail
  • a thick layer of China Glaze No-Chip Top Coat
  • OPI Drip Dry Drops

I gave each coat a ton of time to dry, especially after the last step with the drying drops. I doubt that most people out there have to wait that long, but as stated several times, nail polish hates me so I have to be super nice. *g*

Hope you liked it.

Trip to Hungary

Yesterday I drove with my BF to Hungary, the border is an hour from Vienna and short after this border are some shops: Tesco, Müller, etc. that are open on Sunday.

We don't have Tescos in Austria and I looooove looking at products we don't have, may it be deodorants or Make Up.

So after being at Tesco and my boyfriend bought 7 packages of his favorite chips, that you can't get in Austria.. infant.. we went to Müller - a drugstore that does exist in Austria, but I'm on the hunt for the Essence trend edition "cute as hell" and it's sold out everywhere in Austria so I was looking for it there.

And as I go through the corridors I see a NYX cosmetics rack, I was so shocked - I was so sure this is only available in the states and Switzerland and there it was. A rack full of NYX, I simply couldn't believe it.. Made two pictures with my I-Phone.

Soo cool, I didn't buy anything (patting me on the back lol) cause I'm going to fly to New York in April and it is cheaper there. Nevertheless, how cool is that?

So if you live near Hungary and you are craving for NYX, there you can get it!!!
