Emma

This week my blog has been quite quiet and there's a reason. On Monday night, we heard about a 4 months old puppy that has been living her whole life in a barn without much contact to the world, desperately needing to be saved.

Being the person that I am I couldn't ignore it and so we drove the one hour to her location and got her. She was full of dirt and has a slight eye infection, but she's still so shy that I don't dare to take her somewhere.

We named her Emma and she is adorable, but utterly damaged. She is scared of everything and has lived outdoors only. :(

We're making baby steps every day, but it's not easy. She barely walks when she's in the house and getting her inside after she's been to the garden is an almost impossible job when you're alone. It's so hard to see such an innocent baby being so damaged, knowing that there went everything wrong so far in her short life..

She's doing well with the other pets, especially Kronos is a guide for her. He was surprisingly okay with her coming into our lives. Here she is.

I don't know if I find time to blog again this week. I'll talk to you soon.

Review: Wilkinson Hydro 5 Power Select Shaver

Nowadays, out society is all about smooth, hairless skin and I'm really happy about it. I'm no fan of body hair, on male or female bodies.

Since I'm no fan of pain and a real chicken when it comes to waxing/sugaring thanks to a traumatising experience a few months ago, I'm using a shaver.

I started using the ones for men a while ago and let me tell you, they are much better than the ones for women, because they are sharper and do a better job. I especially like the ones which vibrate, since it gives you even better results.

So I was quite happy when Wilkinson surprised me with their Hydro 5 Power Select shaver with three vibration modes. Let's take a look.

There are three intensity levels which is quite "gadgety", but are they necessary? No, they aren't.

The first two are too powerless to make a real difference. Only the highest level gives you the advantages of using a shaver with a vibrating function.

I really like it and it does a great job, but in my opinion the three different intensity levels are just a selling gimmick. One intensity level is definitely enough. :)

Sunny Sunday

Today was a really beautiful day. Sunshine, no harsh wind, just nice.

The cats and Kronos enjoyed the garden

I hope you had a lovely Sunday and are rested to face a new week!

Going Blond!

I'm still on my journey to going blond and we're slowly getting there. Sadly, my hair is super fine and it can only be done in small steps.

I have a dream when it comes to my hair colour, it's Katie's hair. I love her blog and her hair is gorgeous!!

I'm getting there, but mine is still too golden, but as said it's a process. Luckily, I have the perfect hair expert on my side. Belma, who is gorgeous and has her own salon.

You need to check her out. I trust her completely, but let's go on and show you some photos. Here is my colour before, already a bit lighter than my real hair colour.

I was at Belma's yesterday and I looked like an alien with all that foil in my hair. *gg*

..and here we are now:

It's not one shade, it's a ton of highlights.

I really like it, my husband loves it as well, but I definitely want it to be colder, more ashen, just like Katie has it. Mine is still way too golden.

I'll have my next appointment in three weeks and I can't wait!

What do you think? Do you like it??

Heatherette Nails

Hey guys,

The last couple of days were quite hard. You know those moments when your head seems to explode, because you can't stop worrying or thinking. I have this a lot and the last days were just an overload on thoughts..

But I tried to distract me and painted my nails in a bright, happy colour and the longer I looked at them the more theyreminded me of MAC's gorgeous Heatherette packaging, so here they are.

What do you think? In a direct comparison to the lipstick it's not that colour exactly, but pretty close. :)

One of these days..

Today was a bad day. To get something taken away from you, even though you put your heart into it, sucks and the worst part is that it wasn't taken away from me, cause I sucked at it, no, I'm just being replaced by a better model..

Because the system doesn't care that my pupils begged me not to leave them, that my colleagues like me, no, there's someone better on paper.

I was more than good enough when they had no one else and maybe it's like that in fall again anyway, but it still feels like shit. I'm a fucking good teacher. I have proof enough,  from colleagues at Uni, from my pupils..

I hate that in our system it doesn't matter how good you are at something, if you don't have an official paper confirming something that's not measureable by learning stuff at Uni one will never need at school, you lost.

Review: Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm

I have a ton to do for University, so of course I decided to ignore it and put up a post.. *gg*

When Maybelline released their Baby Lips lip balm there was quite a hype. I must admit I didn't get it that much. It's a lip balm after all.

Then, Maybelline surprised me with one of their new shades and I gotta say - I get it now. :-) Let's take a look:

I got "cherry me"

Swatch time - as you can see there is a slight hint of colour :)

They released six new ones, 4 with hydrating qualities and a bit colour and two clear ones that are all about hydrating and repairing. :)

"Cherry me" was surprisingly moisturizing and the effect lasted as well. I hate lip balms that moisturize ten minutes and then vanish completely.

So, in a nutshell, this is a gorgeous product and if you're in need of a new lip balm, check them out. Something else I adore - the packaging, it's so cute, I love it.

Hope you have a great Saturday. Kronos played "Where am I??" on our last walk *gg*:

Love you,

Review: Benefit "They're Real!" Mascara

Hey guys,

I wanted to review this for quiet a while. Let's take a look.

Swatch-time. I gotta say I didn't think the mascara looked that pretty when I just saw me in the mirror. lol

Above you see two coats. Before I go into detail, I'm not a fan. It's an okay mascara, but in my opinion not worth the hype.

The mascara definitely elongates, but the more you put on the clumpier it gets. Another thing that happened and this is an absolute no-go for me -> imprints. There's nothing worse than looking in the mirror during the day and seeing those weird mascara imprints there. I hate that.

It's a pain to remove as well. So, all in all, there are better mascaras out there that are more affordable. I would give it a C.

NOTD - Essie - "On a Silver Platter"

Here are the swatches of the one polish I bought from the new Encrusted Treasure collection -" on a silver platter".

Swatches:

I could only swatch it on one finger, but you see its lovely colour. I used three coats.
