Review: La Roche-Posay BB Cream

I think we now arrived at the point where BB creams are as common as foundations. *gg*
Another brand - La Roche-Posay - released a BB cream. They surprised me with this cute bag containig the two shades they released.

The shades:

Medium-Dark, Light

Light shade blended:

Medium shade blended:

Now on to the way it looks on my skin. I tried the light one.

Nothing on:

After three hours of wearing it on another day.

So what do I think?

It's okay, but I'm not completley happy with it. The cream never truly blends into your skin. It kinda sits there and you can feel it all day if you touch your face. I don't like that.

Another thing, but I must say this is quite subjective. The coverage is very light as you can see above. It's not a foundation so I guess it's okay, but I prefer a product that can cover some of my redness and there definitely are BB creams that are able to do that.

It's an okay product, but nothing I would go for. I want a natural feeling and at least some coverage.

Review: Maybelline Jade Dream Pure 8-in-1 BB Cream

I totally forgot about this little baby, but here we are. The "Dream Pure 8-in-1 BB Cream" by Maybelline Jade.

All of you know what a BB cream is, so I'll skip that part. This one is specifically designed for skin that tends to oily patches and pimples. It perfects and evens out the skin tone while the salicylic acid helps to prevents outbreaks.

It comes in two shades, light and medium - guess what - the shade light fit my skintone!!

Nothing on:

With the BB cream on:

What do I think?

I really, reeeally like it. I didn't need much product and it immediately adapted to my skin. It has a matte finish, which I love as well. I'm not a fan of dewy finishes. I was a bit worried that it would dry out my skin, but luckily I had no issues with it. Coverage is light to medium and it definitely evened out my skintone.

All in all, a gorgeous product in my opinion. Not a foundation but as good as a bb cream gets.

The Body Shop BB Cream Swatches & Review

I couldn't attend the Body Shop event, thank to my cats, so a couple of days ago I stopped by my favorite store on Mariahilferstraße and checked it out. Let's see some pictures:

There are only three shades:

I got some samples and tested them at home:

They are white and transform as soon as they get in contact with your skin, pretty cool:

Unfortunately, that's where the cool stuff ends.. Let's take a look at the shades and you'll know what I mean:

Shade 1:

The longer you work it into your skin, the more it changes:

This one looked particularly disturbing at the end..

Shade 2:

Shade 3:

Know what I mean? Honestly, who chose those shades? Shade 2 looked the most promising for my skin tone, but only at the beginning. At the end, you can see it at the last photo, it didn't match as well..

They don't have a scent and you only need tiny amounts of products, but that's all in vain if the shade is so weird..

All in all, those looked promising, but completely failed in my opinion due to that weird selection of shades, which is quite sad..

If you wanna give them a try, please get a sample first! I wanted to show you a picture with it applied on my face, but it looked so horrible I just had to wash it off immediately..

What do you think?

GOSH BB Cream Swatches and Review

It's crazy how time flies by.. September.. Summer is over and Uni starts soon..

But for now let's focus on something pleasant. :-)

The BB cream hype doesn't seem to stop and so it's no surprise that GOSH recently released one as well.

I love Gosh, so I was quite curious and what does the sneaky blogger do? Get a sample jar and fill something in for testing.

Of course I swatched each shade as well. There are only four, but those are well chosen:

Top to bottom: Chestnut, Warm Beige, Beige, Sand

Something weird happened, in the short time it took me to get me into decent sunlight the product obviously reacted to the oxygen. See the tiny "blisters":

The shade "Sand" was perfect for my skin, but I noticed that the product darkens a bit once it's applied and worked into your skin. Definitely not something I like.. It still kinda fits, but I prefer products that stay true to their shade.

I have before and after pics, but honestly, you don't see that much of a difference. My parents renovate and I had no other place to take decent daylight pictures, so excuse this lovely background. gg

Before:

After:

It has no scent and is vegan, which is great, but I wish their would be some sort of scent, it has this slightly artificial, plain make up smell. Not quite pleasant in my opinion.

A little goes a long way, but in terms of coverage it doesn't do much as you can see. It evens out a bit and since it's a BB cream that's okay, but I always prefer more coverage due to my redness.

All in all, I think this is a decent product, but nothing I would buy. It costs 13,99€ and for that price I can get another BB cream/foundation that meets my needs way better.

I hope this was helpful.

Review: Garnier BB cream

Maybe some of you remember that I attended the Garnier BB Cream Press Lunch *click*. We got the BB cream for testing purposes and I used it several times by now and I truly like it!

Here again some pics of the cream and the two shades that are available:

My main concern was that it would be too dark for me. From the swatch above you can see that the light version is actually not that light at all..

I applied it and it adapted! It really did, that was so cool, I didn't think it could adapt that well, but it did and after that we became best friends.
I mean I gotta say, it easily could be that it will be too dark in december. I do sort of have my summer colour at the moment and it usually gets lighter in winter.

This BB cream is certainly different from my Missha BB cream. The Missha BB cream is like a foundation - just better. The one from Garnier still belongs to skincare in my opinion. It's not that pigmented, but no one ever said it would be.

The Garnier one is like a tinted moisturiser with more "effects". You have the SPF15, the skin brightening (not bleaching) effect, the anti-aging ingredients, the moisturiser and the touch of foundation/concealer.

It smells nice and fresh, like their face creams do and applies and lasts fine, but it doesn't conceal redness or pimples, so if you're looking for that, you'll need to get the cream from Missha. Nevertheless, it does even out your skin and makes it look healthy and balanced as you can see on the pic below. I'm wearing the BB cream and the Caffeine Anti Dark circles roller ball underneath my eyes:

I really like it, I can pop it on in the morning and don't feel like I'm wearing anything.

Pro:
  • does what it says: moisturising, evens out the skin, gives a natural glow,..
  • SPF 15
  • easy to use: only one step
  • blends and adapts great
  • price
  • two shades available
Con:
  • not really much coverage
  • shade not mentioned on the tube itself (annoys me!)
  • doesn't cover imperfections such as pimples or redness
  • maybe too dark for the ones who have a really light skintone
  • not water-resistant
I hope you liked the review. I think it's definitely worth trying and the price is okay. As long as you know from the start that this is not a substitute for a foundation this won't disappoint you. Any of you own it? What do you think?

Guinevere

Garnier Press Lunch BB Cream

On Monday was a press lunch by Garnier about their new BB cream (aka Blemish Balm) and I was super excited that they invited me. It was the first time they included blogger. :-) Besides me the girls from Kirschblüte's Blog and Once Upon A Cream were there.

This was one of the most love-for-detail events I ever had the pleasure to attend. :-) The Garnier PR girls are sooo pretty, they could be models!

First, there was a short presentation about the new cream:

..while Kim from "Kim kocht" was cooking for us. I have no clue when it comes to the cooking scene, but even I know that name..
After that we were able to enjoy a three-course meal, especially designed for this event :-) Again with love for details

We got a goodie bag with the two shades:

As you can see, no shade label on the actual tube. Not really a fan of that..

Before I show you some swatches, those are the five effects the cream covers according to Garnier:
  • primer
  • moisturiser
  • anti-aging effect
  • a touch of make up
  •  sun block

left: medium-dark, right: light

The light version does look quite dark here (gosh I was annoyed by that), but I applied it on my face and it adapted nicely.

I'm gonna do a review very soon and I can tell you: I love it! I excepted to like it, but I actually really adore it, but I'll save the details for my review.

Thanks to Garnier for invinting me and I hope you liked that post sharing my experience. :-)

Love you all,
Guinevere

The products were given to me by the company for possible review
