Review: Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer

Hey guys,

Here is the much anticipated Bourjois concealer review. :-) I have the number 51.

I wore it several times by now and absolutely love it. It smells so lovely and fruity. It's extremely pigmented and lasts all day. The only problem I have with it is that it's much more yellow than it looked in the tube..

But let the pictures speak:

Nothing on:

with concealer under the eyes:

finished make up:

after a few hours of wear:

about 8 hours later, I know not the best lighting, but you get the gist:

Well, well, as one can see the concealer did a great job. :-) You only need the tiniest amount, I squeezed out a pea sized amount and that was more than enough.

I'm still worried about the yellowness, I didn't have the impression that it was that yellow, but the pics speak another language.. I guess I'll have to mix it with another concealer to balance out that yellowness, but the product itself is great.

At the end of the day, I could see the concealer settle a little bit in the fine lines under the eyes, but not too much.

I totally recommend it. So if you can get your hands on it, give it a try. Just make sure that you get the right shade for you.

Hope this was helpful.

Tiny Haul: Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer

I got this a few days ago in a Müller in Hungary. The Müllers in Hungary have way more Bourjous products. I heard good things about this concealer, can't wait to try it and share my opinion.

Does any of you own it?

Review: Origins Super Spot Remover™ Blemish Treatment Gel

Hey guys,

Next review :-) This time it's about the "sister" of the new Spot Remover Blemish Treatment Pads - the Super Spot Remover Blemish Treatment Gel.

This is another product from the Goodie Bag and new to the Origins family. If you've read my review about the pads *click* you will see those two are very close when it comes to the ingredients.

Here is Origins official description:
Super Spot Remover™ Blemish treatment gel contains Salicylic Acid to effectively tackle existing blemishes. Pores are cleaned out allowing bacteria to be neutralized so the healing process can begin. Pores become visibly smaller. Scutellaria along with Cucumber and Apple Extracts target scars and hyperpigmentation, helping visibly fade both old and new discoloration. Anti-irritants such as Caffeine and Red Algae help calm skin while Oregano and Clove essential oils leave a rejuvenating scent.

So what do I think?

I used this gel several times after I came back from Egypt, cause my skin kept breaking out, I guess it was the different climate and the food.

Since the pads were so amazing on my boyfriends skin, I had high expectations. Sadly, the gel didn't blow me away as much as I wanted it to. It is definitely not a one-time usage wonder, it took about two days to see a real difference. That's not bad, I just expected it to work faster. I have a spot remover gel from Garnier and that works much faster.

My boyfriend used it as well and on his skin the results were much better. I can't tell you why, maybe I just had immune Egypt-pimples or so. *g* The gel took the redness of his pimples away and reduced the size visibly after one night, on me it didn't.

So, if you are looking for a spot removing gel that isn't harsh, works and you don't need your pimple to go away in the next couple of hours, this could be the right product for you. I must say, I'd rather stay with the "hardcore" stuff from Garnier. *gg*

Hope this was helpful.

Review: Origins "Checks and Balances" and "A Perfect World" cleansers

Hey guys,

Another Origins review, I have several coming up, so this will be my "Origins Review Week" or so. *gg*

A while ago, I talked about it, one could get an Origins cleansing gel in exchange for an old beauty product at Douglas. See here.

There were two to choose from:
"Checks and Balances" and "A Perfect World"

Since my boyfriend went with me, we each could get one. Hence both :-)

I tested both for a month now, so here my thoughts:

Origins Checks and Balances: This fash wash is made for skin with oily and dry places. I was a bit hesitant to use it, this is exactly for the skin my boyfriend has, but my skin is just normal to dry. So, even though I "feared" some tightness, I tried it - and loved it!!

I was so happy about that, cause I was so sure it would be too harsh, but it wasn't like that at all. It cleans nicely and doesn't dry out your skin. I love using it, when I have some oiliness around my nose and a pimple or so. *g* It has a minty scent, foames wonderfully and one needs only a little amount.

Ingredientwise Origins says: Broad Leaf Kelp Extract discourages excess oil production, while Wheat Protein balances and protects dry prone zones. And Tourmaline actually makes water wetter to more easily disperse dirt and sebum down the drain. There’s also aromatic Bergamot, Spearmint and Lavender to add pleasure to the process.

Origins A Perfect World: I love this cleanser. I love the fresh/fruity smell and how the skin feels after cleansing. The only problem I have with this is the "running" texture. It's pretty sneaky. I got it more than once in my eye, even though I tried to avoid it, but that might be just my clumsiness.

This cleanser is all about prevention and protection. One of the key ingredients is the Silver Tipped White Tea. This is the main ingredient in all their "A Perfect World" products.

Origins says: Palm, Coconut and Oat Amino Acid reach deep to help detoxify and free skin of harmful, free radical-releasing impurities before they settle down and cause skin-aging oxidation, deterioration, dehydration and even some forms of irritation.

I'd say if you tend to occasional oiliness, get the "Check and Balances" to clean and smooth your skin. If your problem is dryness and you want to prevent and protect your skin against bad environmental influences, get "A Perfect World".

I hope this was interesting. I love the quality of Origins products. I know they aren't cheap and everyone has to decide if it's worth spending that amount of money, but you only have one skin. Treasure it.

Love you,
Guinevere

Review: Origins Spot Remover Blemish Treatment Pads

Since my antibiotics are really kicking in, I'm fit enough to write another post.

I wanted to write this for ages and now I finally have time. As you might remember I posted about the gorgeous Origins Blogger Event some time ago. It was such a great night and since I'm an Origins addict, I was more than excited to get some products for reviewing purposes.

Tonight I'm gonna talk about the Origins Spot Remover Blemish Treatment Pads.

I, or I really should say we, love this product, but let's go into detail:

This is a new product formulated for twice daily use. These are soaked pads which help opening pores to treat blemishes, clear blackheads and give you a clear complexion in general. You get 60 pads in one box. They are quite thin, so you have to be careful not to take two or so by accident:

They are full of helping ingredients such as Saw Palmetto, caffeine, apple and cucumber extracts, clove, oregano and Salicylic Acid. I know acid sounds agressive, but it's not!

When I got this I almost was a little sad, cause I don't really need such pads (luckily!) but my boyfriend does and he became my guinea pig. After the first use, one already could notice a difference. He uses it for over a month now, only once a day before bedtime and his skin improved remarkably.

He got really addicted to those pads and is starting to try to steal other Origins products from me.. Quite annoying. *gg*

In a nutshell: Those are great, simply great. They made such a difference and are easy to use. And he only uses them once a day, so I'm sure if one uses them twice a day, the result will even be more striking! I also think this is perfect for men, cause they are fuss-free and do their job.

We're definitely gonna repurchase those. So if you think about buying them, give them a try!

Guinevere

Birthday

Today was my birthday. I'm now 24 years old. I'm so old.. I hope I'll come across a vampire soon, I don't wanna get old. Time's flying by so quickly, way too quickly..

But let's focus on other things. It was a lovely day. We went to Akakiko and later I got a Mousse au Chocolat, way better than a birthday cake! :-)

I got some gorgeous presents as well:

My boyfriend was once again incredibly generous. We tend to give us our presents way too early, cause we just can't wait. *gg* So I already got some. He bought me a new digicam after I lost mine:

Tickets to a comedy show:

I was sure I wouldn't get anything else, I had gotten so much already, but today I got this, which simply blew me away:

My first Tiffany jewelry. I don't really have a thing for jewelry, the only jewelry that can excite me is Tiffany jewelry. And today I got my first blue box:

That was in it:

Just lovely and the message on it is the best of all. :-) My boyfriend isn't one of those who can share their feelings easily. So this bracelet is even more special.

He also got me a new screen for my computer:

Which now makes me able to do awesome things like that:

Blogging and Big Bang Theory, what can be better than that. *gg*

Incredible, right? I'm utterly grateful.

From my family I got two books I wished for:

and this bracelet:

And my best friend got me the best pillow ever made:

It was a really great day and I'm so grateful to have people in my life, who love and cherish me. :-)

I hope you had a gorgeous day as well.

Guinevere

Essence 50's Girls Reloaded Haul & Swatches

A couple of days ago I saw Essence's new collection. Lovely display:

I ended up getting those two:

You're a Heartbreaker:

Back to the 50's:

Tha nail polish is actually quite weird. *gg* Not only is this a really strange colour, the application is strange as well. I applied one coat and it was uneven and very sheer, just horrible. After the second coat it suddenly was opaque and even. Swatches will follow soon.

The lipsticks is nicely pigmented and smooth. The other colour looks lovely as well, but unfortunately was sold out.
Left side swatched "heavily", right side just one stroke:

Get anything?

Balea Sun Hair Care Products Review

Hey guys,

Another review. :-) I thought this might be interesting for those of you who are in the sun quite a lot. We took these two with us to Egypt.

It's the Balea After Sun 2 in 1 Shampoo & Conditioner and the Balea Sun Protection Hairspray.

First, let's talk about the shampoo: It was nice, but nothing special. I used it every day after being in the ocean or pool and my hair felt good with it, but not particularly moisturised or protected. What really annoyed me to no end was that my hair got greasy after only one day. Since I washed it every day, it didn't matter much, but normally my hair only gets that greasy after three or four days! I don't think I would buy it again. I mean I don't regret buying it, but it's not worth repurchasing.

About the spray, it smells very nice, just like the shampoo does smell nice and we used it all the time. Each time before we went to the beach. I can't really say if it did much, but I felt better when I had it on. lol

Overall, my hair doesn't feel damaged after one week in the baking Egypt sun, so maybe that's only because of those products, but I didn't have this "wow that saved my hair!" feeling. They weren't expensive and I'm definitely gonna use them up, but I'm not gonna repurchase them. I rather try some other products.

Maybe that was helpful. I always write that at the end of reviews. I really hope my reviews actually help you to decide wether a product is worth getting or not.

Have a wonderful Sunday guys!

Love,
Guinevere

Some impressions from Egypt

It was a really great holiday, even with all that sun. *gg* We mostly spent the week at the resort, but on one day we drove to Luxor and visited the Kanak temple, the Valley of the Kings and two other places.

It felt like being in a sauna all day (40°), but the humidity is quite low there, so the heat is easier to endure.

These walls are 3500 years old, it's incredible, that they are in such a good condition.

Two days later we went snorkeling. Another unbelievable experience.

Our guide was a joker..

We also visited a little island that day. So beautiful:

The resort and the beach at the hotel were gorgeous as well:

All in all, an amazing week. I hope you enjoyed the pictures.

Guinevere
