Review: Wella System Professional Colour Save Shampoo & Conditioner

Edit 28.11.2011: After using my other shampoos again, I noticed that ever since I dyed my hair, I generally need to wash it one day earlier, so it definitely isn't this shampoos that caused the early oilyness!

Wella sent me a couple of hair products and today I'm gonna talk about two of them - The Colour Save Shampoo and the Colour Save Conditioner.

Both of these are from their System Professional range which is available at hairdressing equipment stores, but also at certrain drugstores (DM i.e.) which I think is great. I like it when products are easy to get.

Let's start with the shampoo:

It has this typical hairdresser product scent, which immediately gives you this "I'm using fancy products" feeling. *gg* It's difficult to describe the scent in detail, but I'm sure you know what you mean.

So what do I think?

I gotta say I have one big problem with this shampoo, a problem which kicks it immediately out of my "a great product" category and that's kinda sad..

I need to wash my hair every three days, until then there is no visible oiliness. With this product I lose one whole day..
An example: I washed my hair on Saturday morning and on Sunday evening I had to wash it again, I put it up in a ponytail and got one more day out of it that way, but that's not the point.

This costs almost 15€ and for that price I should get my usual three days out of it. I mean this is my personal experience with this product. It might be fine on your hair, but not on mine.

Other than that it's a nice thing. It smells nice and I do have the feeling that it does preserve my colour better than a normal shampoo, but still. This lost day is a no-go for me.

Pro:
  • nice scent
  • easy to get
  • prolonges your hair colour
Con:
  • price
  • hair gets oily faster
On to the conditioner:

This is really nice.

I like the consistency, the scent and how my hair feels after using it. It's a really nice conditioner, but nothing extraordinary and probably that should be the case for the price (again about 15€).

Pro:
  • does what it's supposed to do
  • preserves colour
  • easy to get
Con:
  • price

So, I guess that's all I can say about these two.

I don't know what to say about the shampoo, would I recommend it?
If you wash your hair every day anyway. Get it, it does a good job in preserving you hair colour.
If you don't want to wash you hair that often, you shouldn't buy it, cause you'll be pretty annoyed with it.

The conditioner on the other side is really nice and if you have some money to spoil, try it. Nevertheless, I think you could find an equally nice product for a better price.

I hope this was helpful!

Love,
Guinevere
